Submissions Policy

The Yale Journal on Regulation is a semi-annual publication. We accept articles from professors and practitioners in a variety of disciplines including law, business, economics, and public policy. We also accept articles from graduate students in other disciplines whose work is relevant to the field of regulation. Because of the interdisciplinary focus of our Journal, we especially encourage submissions by professors, practitioners, and graduate students in fields other than the law. We accept notes and comments only from students at Yale and occasionally publish book reviews.

Submissions Procedure

We are currently accepting both electronic and paper submissions of articles. We prefer that authors use the ExpressO submission system, which can be found online at http://www.law.bepress.com/expresso. You may also submit your article or essay electronically by emailing a copy in Word format to Submissions Director Elina Tetelbaum. We strongly prefer submissions made through ExpressO, and then via email.

Preferred method: Submit online via ExpressO

In the event that electronic submission is not possible, please mail your piece in triplicate to the addresses below. If you plan to or have already submitted your article by snail mail, also email a copy in Word format to the Submissions Director to expedite the process.

For delivery via U.S. Mail, send manuscripts to:

Submissions Review Process

Our submissions editors review submissions on a rolling basis throughout the semester, beginning in September for selection of the spring/summer issue, and beginning in January for our fall/winter issue. We seek to review submissions within 14 days of receipt. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, it is not possible for us to give feedback on articles that are not accepted for publication; nonetheless, we do seek to notify every author when a final decision has been reached on the publication of his or her piece.

We do accept submissions during the summer, but please note that the review process may take somewhat longer during this time.

We conduct preemption checks on all articles before our submissions team advances your article in the review process. Our entire board votes to provide final approval of all published articles.

Expedites

If you have received a formal offer of publication from another journal and would like to receive an expedited review by the Yale Journal on Regulation, please notify us via the EspressO service. If you submitted via other means, contact the submissions director via email. When requesting an expedited review, please put "Expedite" as the subject of your email and include in the text:

  • The author name and title of your manuscript
  • The name of the journal that has extended an offer to you
  • The date that the offer expires
  • The phone number or email address of a contact person at that journal
JREG will attempt to honor all requests for expedited review for which the above information is provided.

Withdrawals

If you wish to withdraw your piece from consideration, please contact the submissions director via email. Please put "Withdraw" as the subject of your email, and include in the text the author name and title of your manuscript.

Thank you again for considering submitting your piece to the Yale Journal on Regulation.
