Darren Spedale

(photo) Darren Spedale is a corporate attorney at White & Case, LLP in New York City, specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions and Bank Finance. He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School, an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and received his B.A. at Duke University, where he analyzed early domestic partnership initiatives for an honors thesis. Mr. Spedale has conducted extensive research on the Scandinavian registered partnership laws while spending 2 years on a Fulbright Fellowship in Denmark. He is currently completing a book on the Scandinavian experience with legal recognition of same-sex relationships and its implications for the international same-sex marriage debate (with co-author William Eskridge; Oxford University Press, scheduled publication late 2005). He has published a number of articles on the Scandinavian partnership laws, and has lectured at several universities on the subject. He continues his interest in legal recognition of same-sex partnerships through his pro bono work, including work on behalf of Immigration Equality.
